Terrasol's Vintage Cabin Restorations Terrasol specializes in vintage log cabin restoration. We salvage original log cabins, built by American settlers between the 1850s and 1880s. The cabins are dismantled and held at our storage site outside Mankato, Minnesota. When you purchase an authentic pioneer cabin, our experienced design and estimating staff will assist you in creating the cabin of your dreams - perfect by the lake or tucked away in the woods. The log cabin shell is pre-assembled in our studio for your approval, where we can make modifications to the original structure. Doors and windows can be enlarged or added. Loft, dormers and porches are optional as well. Then the cabin is shipped to your site for final assembly! It's so easy! You can have an authentic, vintage pioneer cabin of your own! Terrasol's Remodels & Additions Dick & Sue Chambers first came to Terrasol with a whole house renovation in mind. Mark Johnson, aware of the grand scale that the project would have, encouraged them to speak with an architect that Terrasol had partnered with in the past. From there, they hired architect Jeff Stromgren to assist in the design and planning of the remodel and Terrasol was hired as the General Contractor. Beyond the many layout problems that are associated with a 100 year-old farmhouse, the homes plumbing was in severe disrepair. The problems the home-owner faced weren’t however limited to the plumbing, the kitchen, deck and sheer number of outlets were all unacceptable and needed to be addressed. Other considerations included the salvaging of the homes wood floors and an addition that would house the home-owners parents allowing their inclusion into the raising of Dick & Sue’s children. The final product was a true success, both in the eyes of the home-owners and HGTV. As you enter the remodeled home through the new pronounced entrance you will find that the service areas are now focused on the first floor as well as a new wing for the in-laws. The kitchen went from a tight 100 S.F. space to a very open 260 S.F. room w/ an island and sprawling views of the property.
